"Shimokita Peninsula" and "Hachinohe"; Gourmet and Nature
The "Shimokita Peninsula" at the northernmost tip of Honshu and "Hachinohe," a port city in southeastern Aomori, are treasure troves of delicious gourmet food and beautiful nature.
"Hotokegaura" (Sai village)
A scenic location where rock formations continue for about 2 km along the sea cliffs. You can take a sightseeing boat and enjoy the view from the sea.
"Mount Osore" (Mutsu City)
"Mt. Osore" is said to be a sacred ground connecting life and death. It is a mystical rocky place with strong smell of sulfur. Many people visit this place for the "Mt. Osore Grand Festival" that takes place in summer, to hear spiritual ladies called "Itako" who speak the language of the dead.
"Oma Tuna" (Oma)
"Oma" on Shimokita Peninsula is a tuna town. "Oma Tuna" is the largest type of tuna that weighs around 100 kg on an average. It is a high-class product also known as "Black Diamonds". In season from Autumn to Winter.
"Hasshoku Center" (Hachinohe City)
A market that sells fresh seafood. The shops where you can eat scallops, etc. that you have bought by grilling them on charcoal fire are very popular.
"Tanesashi Coast" trekking (Hachinohe City)
There is a promenade of about 5 km along the reef from where you can enjoy views of the sea and alpine plants at the same time.

Hachinohe Enburi "A traditional dance event to welcome the arrival of spring"
The Hachinohe Enburi Festival is a Honen Kigan (praying for rich harvest) festival which takes place from February 17th for 4 days every year. As a folkloric performing art representing the region of Hachinohe, it has been designated as an important intangible folk cultural property of the country. This festival is famous for its unique dance in which a performer, called a tayu, shakes their head while wearing a gorgeous eboshi hat that looks like a horse's head.
"Doors to explore 'NIPPON'", a special program that showcases scenes hand-picked from NHK's "SHIN NIHON FUDOKI", a show that conveys the beautiful scenery and profound culture of Japan, is screened on five TV monitors installed in the departure area of Haneda Airport.
