"Shiroyone Senmaida (Thousand Rice Paddies in Shiroyone)" (Wajima City)
About 40 minutes from the airport by bus. "Tanada" are recognized as part of the world’s agricultural heritage. "Tanada" are terraced "rice paddies" created on the slope of the mountain. There are 1004 "rice paddies" here. You can see "rice planting" and "rice harvesting" depending on the time you visit. Sunsets and nighttime illuminations in winter are also popular.
A hot spring that uses rare waters. Ranked as #1 for 36 consecutive years on the "Pros Select Japan's Best 100 Hotels and Ryokan" list, Kagaya provides excellent service and hospitality. At the "Aenokaze" hotel, an impressive cultural show called "Gojinko Taiko" is held in which Taiko drums are performed.
A morning market with over a 1000 years of history. There are about 200 stalls that sell a variety of seasonal seafood such as crabs and high-quality "Nodoguro" fish, processed goods such as dried fish and local crafts such as knitted Japanese sandals. Opens at 8 in the morning.
"Wajima-nuri," has 600 years of history. It is a lacquer ware made by ornamentally applying lacquer over wood that has been cut into different forms. It takes 124 steps to make one and it's all done manually. Chopsticks are recommended as an affordable souvenir.
