Moji, in Kitakyushu City, is a port town on the Kanmon Straits which has developed as an international trade port. In the backstreets of this fashionable town are a number of liquor stores open from the morning. Once you enter a store you can quickly have a drink. Kaku-uchi, a type of liquor store combined with a standing bar, is said to have originated in Moji.
